On 4th of August 2020, the SUG President of University of Uyo, HE Emmanuel Akpan led a delegation of Students’ Leaders made up of the Director of Academics, SUG and the Chief of Staff to the SUG President to present formally to the University Management, Medical students of University of Uyo who represented Nigeria in the 2nd African Regional Online Anatomy Competition which held on 25th July, 2020.

The competition was organized by the International Association of Students’ Surgical Societies (IASSS) and was participated by 24 Students culled from over 9 countries in Africa including Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan, Zambia, Uganda, etc. MR JOSEPH AKPAN (a 400L Medical student) and MISS VICTORY ETUK ( a 300L year medical student) represented University of Uyo and Nigeria at large in this competition where JOSEPH AKPAN emerged FIRST POSITION in Cardiothoracic Anatomy category internationally.

Present to receive the students delegation was the Vice Chancellor of our University, Prof. Enefiok Essien (SAN), Deputy VC (Acad.), Registrar, Bursar, and Librarian, Dean of Students’ Affairs, Chief Security Officer and other members of the University leadership.

In his address, the VC appreciated enormously the leadership of the students’ Union for its orderliness and unique and rare leadership disposition and also congratulated the distinguished students for their efforts in representing the Institution.

He reiterated his support for Nigerian students and assured the winners that the school is happy to receive them and will ensure maximum support and encouragement.

The delegation presented the certificate of participation to the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the students.

The SUG President thanked the Vice Chancellor for giving them audience and always supporting Nigerian students anytime he makes a request. He also recalled that based on his request for extension of portal closure, portal still remains open up till now and students are making payments as we speak .

The SUG President concluded by congratulating the winners and assured them that the Union is always there to support.
